Round one of the 2017 Iowa high school boys class 3A state golf meet is officially in the books after 18 holes at the Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore.
Nine teams and 62 individual golfers were in action starting at 10:30 am this morning. The nine team field is comprised of 7 of the top 15 ranked schools in 3A including four of the top four teams. Out of all the ranked teams in the field it is unranked Central DeWitt to lead the pack after day one with a team score of 308. Second ranked Williamsburg and third ranked MOC-Floyd Valley round out the top three after round one.
For the 11th ranked ADM Tigers, they will head into day two ranked 7th in the standings after an 18 hole team score of 333. The four counting scores comprising that total starts with Micah Moyer sitting 5th overall after ending the day just two over par at 74. After double bogey on hole 5 Jacob Schumacher put a solid charge into the rest of the meet to finish just four strokes back of Moyer tied for 14th at 78. Matthew West ended the day just 8 strokes over his season low 18 hole score with an 88 placing him 45th overall. The last of the counting scores belongs to Will Geadelmann shooting an 18 hole round of 93. The other two scores for ADM include Grant Currant tied for 58th with a 99 and Adam O’Connor in 61st after shooting a 104.
The Tigers and the rest of the state meet field will commence with round two tomorrow morning beginning bright and early at 8:00 am
