Greene County Middle School students enjoyed a performance and learned about heart-healthy activities involving jump roping.
The Greene County Library Association hosted a series of performances from David Fisher, who Ripley’s Believe It or Not! tabs as the world’s greatest rope jumper. Fisher has also been on a television show called More Than Human and America’s Got Talent. He even has a Guinness World Record for jumping while seated on the ground. He talked about the different types of tricks that can be done with a jump rope and how it’s a great way to exercise your heart.
“Of all the different types of performances that I do, school assemblies are my favorite. It’s a really interactive show. I bring lots of kids up on stage with me and we do things like double dutch, partner jumping and this thing called traveling. Every show is different because you never know what the volunteers are going to do. I love working with students and showing them that fitness can be fun and a lifelong passion.”
Fisher performed in six locations throughout the county. The Greene County Library Association received a grant from the Communities 4 Children and Community Partnerships for Protecting Children Neighborhood/Community Network Mini Grant.
