Bolton & Menk is putting together a cost estimate to propose to the Jefferson City Council at their next meeting of how much it will be to improve the look to the east entrance. The engineering firm recently held an open house to gather final input from the public about what the design could look like. The proposed area is from the city cemetery to Cedar Street on Lincoln Way. Mayor Craig Berry says some of the plans are to create a walking trail, lighting and landscaping along the southern side of Lincoln Way with some driveway improvements on the north side.

“And it’s also in conjunction with the wayfaring signage project that (Jefferson Matters) Main Street is doing in conjunction with the City for all of the four different entrances into the City.”East entryway plans pic 2

Berry adds that the work will be done in the City’s right-of-way, so there will be no additional land acquisition.

“Course there’s no funding structure in place to pay for something right now, but it’s something that we need to look at down the road. This east entrance was one of the priorities that the Council came up with in their priority setting session.”

The plans are on display inside City Hall.
