The season continues on for the ADM Tiger boys golf team after they became one of two teams to qualify for the district meet after placing second in the 8 team sectional field in Denison yesterday.
Head coach Kelly Roder and his squad took to the Majestic Hills Golf & Country Club for their 18 hole sectional tournament and they went up against a very competitive field that included the likes of top 3A ranked Atlantic. The 13th ranked Tiger boys would hold their own however coming in second place just nine strokes off of first place Atlantic notching a 319. Jacob Schumacher shot a phenomenal round of 18 placing as runner up medalist shooting 74 on the day. Top medalist honors went to Atlantic’s Jake Olsen shooting a 73.
With the new format this year since both Schumacher and Olsen are part of the teams that qualified for districts, two other individuals who placed third and fourth and not part of the Trojans or Tigers also advanced in the form of Carroll’s Kolby Paulsen and Creston’s Kyle Somers.
As for the rest of the Tiger line up Adam O’Connor took third for the Tigers etching in an 11 over par for the day which just so happened to tie with Matthew West picking up the same 18 hole score of 84. Grant Curran’s 18 hole round consisted of 88 strokes while Will Geadelmann rounded out the Tiger roster firing a 92 on the day.
Schumacher and the rest of the ADM Tiger boys golf team will now be one step closer to state as they take on the district meet held at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club May 19th, beginning at 10:00 am.
As for today, coach Roder will be traveling with the Lady Tigers as they enter into their final regular season contest of 2017. ADM will be taking to the Crestmoor Golf Course in Creston with first tee off set for 4:15 pm. The boys squad will take on a regular season contest against an 11 team field at the Bos Landen Golf Club.
