Greene County Development Corporation met Tuesday in regular session.
President Sid Jones gave an update on a possible community development opportunity with the Jefferson Fieldhouse. The Greene County Youth Athletic Association is looking to purchase the building from Jeff Schroeder. A meeting was held with several entities about the possibility of using the facility for team sports training purposes.
During committee and government reports, Greene County Supervisor Pete Bardole said the 43 bells will be delivered by the end of the month to be installed on the Mahanay Bell Tower.
Jefferson Matters: Main Street Program Director Peg Raney gave several updates. She said the final agreement for the Community Development Block Grant downtown revitalization project will be approved by the City Council on May 23rd. Additionally, Jen Badger’s business, Shine On Design, is applying to represent Jefferson for Iowa Main Street’s Open4Business contest.
Finally, Community Development Director Ken Paxton said Zach Mannheimer with Iowa Business Growth met with several committees to work on the next stages of the Vision 2020 project.
