The complete list of Coed State Track & Field qualifiers, including those qualifying as automatic and those qualifying as at-large was released yesterday afternoon. Greene County and Perry were at Denison on Thursday for a Class 3A State Qualifying Meet, and all four squads qualified events for the Coed State Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines May 18-19-20.

Greene County has four girls’ events with three qualifying automatically. Oddly enough, 2016 State champion high jumper Megan Durbin finished third at Denison and wasn’t an automatic qualifier. Just first and second place finishers in each event were automatic. Durbin had nothing to worry about however, as she cleared the bar at 5′ 5″ on Thursday. She was third in Denison and is third best among the 24 qualifiers in the high jump from the State Qualifying meets. Janelle Brophy in the long jump, Olivia Hansen in the 200 meter dash, and the sprint medley relay of Megan Doran, Durbin, Melanie Doran, and Hansen, are the Rams’ automatic qualifiers.

The Greene County boys have two events going to State. Freshman Carter Morton jumped four inches higher than ever before and he won the high jump in Denison at 6′ 2″. The 4 x 100 meter relay of Logan Lansman, Chase Stoline, Colby Kafer, and Nick Schroeder, qualified on an at-large basis.

The Perry girls qualified automatically in the two events they’ll have at State. Grace Stewart made it in the 3,000 meter run and the distance medley relay qualified with Rachel Kinney, Breanna Peneger, Haley Vaughn, and Sidney Vancil.

The Perry boys take seven events to state with five of those being at-large. The two automatic qualifiers are Reece Dunlap in the 200 meter dash and Brandon Kenyon in the 800 meter run. Dunlap and Adan Medina both qualified at-large in the 400 meter dash, and three relays made it in with at-large berths. Those are the 4 x 400 meter relay with Dunlap, Kenyon, Rashon Ivory, and Medina; 4 x 800 with Kenyon, Ivory, Zachory Thompson, and Kaleb Olejniczak; sprint medley relay with Manassess Martinez, Kenyon, Dunlap, and Medina.
