The Perry Public Library is inviting readers from the community to attend their annual “All Iowa Reads” book discussion Tuesday evening.
The program is sponsored by the Iowa Center for the Book, and it encourages communities across the state to collectively read a selected title each year. They then hold a community discussion event, and the hope is to foster unity through reading. Library Director Mary Murphy says the book usually has some sort of Iowa or midwestern theme. This year’s book is called “Bottomland,” which was written by Iowa author Michelle Hoover.
People interested in taking part can check out or purchase the book at the library and read it ahead of time. The program will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and will feature guest discussion facilitator George Minot. Minot is an English professor and graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop. There is no cost for the event, and refreshments will be served.
