On a day where mother nature was cooperating the Panorama girls and boys golf teams took home a pair of first place finishes at separate venues.
Head coach Hal Rossow and the Panther boys team were the ones with the road trip heading the the 5 x 80 Golf & Country Club in Menlo. Coming into the day the Panther boys had taken first as a team in all three prior meets and officially changed that to four yesterday with a first place team score of 157. Conference rival West Central Valley came in a full 27 strokes behind to take second place while the quadrangular was rounded out with North Polk in third and Earlham in fourth.
For the fourth straight meet Panorama put up a top medalist individually but this time there was a changing of the guards. The medalist spot normally won by freshmen Kolby Shackelford was taken by Will Babcock and his even par 36 for the day. Right behind him for runner up medalist was fellow teammate George Appleseth shooting two over par with a 38 through nine holes. Kolby Shackelford proved he was in fact human with a few bogies on the day that still led to a solid 40 on the day. Mitch Wagler rounded out the top four scoring with a nine hole round of 43.
For the Lady Panther they stayed in the comforts of Lake Panorama Golf Course and put on a great team performance to take the first place crown by a full 37 strokes over second place West Central Valley. Earlhams Cari Coulter wound up as the top medalist for the meet with a nine whole score of 54 but not too far behind here was a pair of Lady Panthers in Maggie Smith and Madi Fear both earning runner up medalist shooting 56 each. Cassie Labath and Lauren McClathey rounded out the top four scoring 57 and 62 respectively.
Tomorrow the Panther boys team will rejoin the Lady Panthers at the Lake Panorama Golf Course as they are in make up action with a rescheduled pair of meets from back on April 3rd. Both squads will welcome in Madrid and Ogden high schools for a set of conference triangulars beginning at 4:00 pm.
