A Jefferson man faces felony charges for an October incident.
Police Chief Mark Clouse says 35 year-old James Michael Lefeber is charged with a Class B Felony for first degree burglary and a Class C Felony for sexual abuse assault.
The charges stem from an incident in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive on October 5, 2016. Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio the female victim reported that Lefeber allegedly broke a window into her apartment and sexually assaulted her. Clouse says they used a sexual assault kit to gather evidence, as well as sending in parts of the broken glass to the Criminalistics Laboratory in Ankeny. Results came back from the lab on December 13th matching Lefeber’s fingerprint to part of the broken glass, as well as DNA evidence that resulted in sexual assault.
Arrest warrants were then filed on January 3rd. Officers found Lefeber and arrested him in the 500 block of North Maple Street on Friday, April 14th.
He was booked and released from the Greene County jail.
