The Greene County high school track and field boys were in action yesterday on the warmest day of the season so far. The boys were at Saydel HS in Des Moines Thursday. Temperatures were in the mid to upper 70s in the late afternoon and low 70s at the end of the action. That’s quite a bit warmer than any other meet this season.
Greene County was in a 14 team field at Saydel and the Rams did not win an event. The sprint medley relay had the best finish for the Rams with a second place showing in a season best 1:39.87. Freshman Colby Kafer joined seniors Chase Stoline, Logan Lansman, and Nick Schroeder in the sprint medley. Coach Dean Lansman told Raccoon Valley Radio the time was nearly two full seconds faster than they previously had run.
The Rams had just two other events that placed in the top eight. The 4 x 100 meter relay was eighth in a season best :46.03 seconds with sophomore Clint Dennhardt, along with seniors Lansman, Stoline, and Schroeder. Freshman Carter Morton placed eighth in the 400 meter low hurdles in 1:01.08.
The Greene County teams host the Rams Relays on Monday at Linduska Field in Jefferson.
