Christopher FresheThere is a new addition to the Greene County Sheriff’s office.

Christopher Freshe is from Humboldt. The 26 year-old will be graduating this May from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and criminology. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio why he wanted to go into law enforcement for his career.

“I just really see that there’s a need for people to help other people and I feel that’s my place to be able to do it.”

He says he applied for the Greene County Deputy position because he likes the feel of a small town atmosphere. Freshe replaces Nathaniel Chapman as deputy, due to Chapman being promoted to chief deputy, after Jack Williams was elected in November as sheriff. Freshe started on Monday.

Williams recently received approval from the Board of Supervisors to hire an additional deputy, and Williams says the application process is underway.
