Both ACGC Charger track teams were in action yesterday involved in the annual Earlham Coed Invitational.
Both teams kept up the pace from last week as the girls and boys squads each took third place finishes. The Lady Chargers’ third place finish came out of 12 teams and their point total was 91 while the boys third place score consisted of 82 points. Fellow Guthrie County rival Panorama would take the meet win on the girls side while Earlham would steal the show in the boys meet.
For the Lady Chargers, the day was highlighted by three first place finishes on the day. Madison McDermott has been on a phenomenal surge as of late and showcased that yesterday placing first in the shot put with a distance of 34′-7″ which was almost a full 4 inches ahead of second place.
Kate Crawford had a pair of highlights on the day taking the top spots in both the 3000 and 1500 meter runs but what was even more impressive was the fact that she set a meet and stadium record in the 3,000 and a meet record in the 1,500 meters. Emma Swanson had a more than solid day herself earning third place in the 800 meter run and 4th in the 1500. Olivia Laabs was another notable performer continuing the season with great progress as she took second in the 400 meter hurdles.
On the boys side of things, head coach Tyler Mosbach and his Charger squad accumulated 13 top five finishes on the afternoon. Highlighting the day was Caden Wardyn taking the first place crown in the long jump with a distance of 19′-05.75″. Jacob Joliet was not too far behind in third place. Logan Scheuerman earned yet another top five finish in the 800 meter run as yesterday he took third place with a time of 2:06.71. Dylan Soper chipped in a couple of fourth place finishes in the 200 and 100 meter dash events while ACGC’s 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 meter relay teams took home solid third place finishes.
The next meet for either team will be a solo contest for the Lady Chargers who welcome in a 14 team field on Thursday for their meet which begins with field events at 4:30 pm and running events at 5:00 pm
