The Jefferson Police Department recently received a donation to help pay for a needed investigative tool.
Captain Heath Enns says they received an anonymous donation of $2,200 for the police department and the Greene County Sheriff’s office to continue to use the website Leads Online. We’ve previously reported that Leads Online is a database that law enforcement can use to track stolen items that are sold to any pawn shop anywhere in the country. It provides an individual’s fingerprint, signature, social security number and driver’s license. It can also show any alias or associates with the individual who is selling the items.
Enns expresses his gratitude to the donor which will allow them to solve theft and burglary cases in a more efficient manner.
“I was totally blown away, I was not expecting that. I am fully aware that our entire community is very supportive of law enforcement and just to see that, it blow me away.”
Enns adds that burglary and theft will not be tolerated in Jefferson and several cases have already been solved using the website.
