Goalkeeping, better conditioning and depth along with stronger defensive play were some of the key areas that Perry wanted to improve on after last year’s postseason loss to Atlantic. The Jayettes certainly showed improvement in all 4 areas last night as Perry defeated Winterset 1-0 in both the season and conference opener for both teams. Freshman Jacque Vadad scored the lone goal for the Jayettes as Perry played a good portion of the night without their star forward Natalie Martinez. The top returning scorer for the Jayettes was injured in the first half and never returned. Head Coach Gilmar Guerra indicated that she might miss the next 3 to 4 games. Perry is now 1-0 on the season.
