farm-safety-on-the-roadsAs preparations get underway for the planting season in Greene County, there are some safety reminders that motorists should be aware of.

Sheriff Jack Williams recommends approaching farm equipment on the roadways with caution and keep in mind the size of the equipment.

“Field equipment is just getting bigger and bigger by the year, so use extreme caution when going to pass. Make sure you’re passing in a passing zone, not on hillsides and please watch the overpasses. In Greene County, we have three of them (overpass bridges) and we usually have an average of two to three accidents a year on the overpasses with farm equipment.”

He adds that the there will be lots of farm equipment on the roads for a couple of weeks and then it’ll slow down again.

Williams asks everyone to exercise patience and pass farm equipment responsibly on the roads.
