The Dallas County Board of Supervisors recently held a pair of meetings in the community room of the Human Services Campus.
The Board chose to renovate the former County poor farm facility into the Human Services Campus to give certain county departments and services more space. Board Chair Kim Chapman describes his reaction to the finished product.
“We we’re very impressed with the finished product of course and very proud of the facility itself. The firm that we hired to design this renovation project did an outstanding job of using the space very wisely. So one of the things that’s very impressive to me is all the space that we do have here.”
Chapman adds that they interviewed all county departments and based their decisions on which would be relocated based on space needs. Those departments include public health, community services, mental health, emergency management, dispatch unit and department of human services. He points out that sometimes meeting space was also a concern for the Supervisors.
“The County has lacked the ability to have meetings with our county staff altogether at anytime in the past. With the renovation of this building, it’s now possible for us to meet with all of our county employees at one time.”
The project was completed late last year.
