The Jefferson City Council recently approved their participation in a Greene County wide project.
The Vision 20/20 Project is an effort to create projects to attract people to work and live in the county. It involves various individuals from the Des Moines area, including the project leader Zach Mannheimer with Iowa Business Growth. The first phase of the project is $98,000, of which the City of Jefferson was asked to pay $24,000. At Tuesday’s meeting, the Council approved their financial contribution.
Mayor Pro Tem Harry Ahrenholtz tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he thinks will be the most important factor in the overall project.
“The most value that’s going to come out of this plan is the public input. We’ve got to have public input to tell us what it is that they value in this city for now and for the future. I think this is the right group to do that.”
The other entities asked to participate in the initial phase included private contributions of $25,000, Greene County Board of Supervisors for $24,000 and Greene County Development Corporation and Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation for $25,000.
