Greene County golf coaches Dave Destival and Heath Telleen have been waiting since last year to get the 2017 season underway and the wait is nearly over. Coach Destival’s boys start tomorrow vs. Carroll High in Carroll, while Coach Telleen’s girls begin vs. Carroll tomorrow at The Hill west of Grand Junction. In both cases, it’s JV/varsity action beginning at 4 p.m.

Coach Telleen is a bit short on varsity experience overall, but 2016 Class 4A State qualifier Rachael Danielson is back. The junior finished eighteenth in Ames during State competition a season ago.

Coach Destival has five letter winners from a season ago back, including the low average golfer from 2016 in Elijah Block. The junior missed advancing from the Sectional Tournament on to District competition by a single stroke.
