Several hay bales were destroyed in a fire Wednesday south of Jefferson.
Fire crews responded to the call at 12:30pm at 1606 267th Street.
Derek Bauer with the Jefferson Fire Department told Raccoon Valley Radio that when they arrived on scene, some hay bales were completely engulfed in flames. Due to the number of hay bales on fire, Grand Junction Fire Department also responded for mutual aid.
A cause hasn’t been determined, but Bauer doesn’t believe there to be any evidence of a suspicious fire. A total amount of damage also hasn’t been determined. No one was hurt in the incident and the Greene County Sheriff’s office assisted at the scene.
According to the Greene County Assessor’s real estate page, the property is owned by Dale and Connie Betts of Jefferson.
