Media Day for Greene County High School track & field was yesterday for both the girls and boys. Dean Lansman is the boys’ head coach and Kelly Simpson heads the girls’ program.

Coach Lansman gives Raccoon Valley Radio the rundown on how his squad of 36 breaks down by grade. “We have a lot of freshmen, 36 freshmen. There are three sophomores, six juniors, and 11 seniors. This is a nice class of freshmen coming in. They’ll help fill some spots that we’ve not been able to the last couple years, especially in the distance and middle distance events. That’ll be nice to have and get some of those young guys going early. The boys are adding the sprint medley relay this year, which helps when you have numbers because now you can fill another event and get some experience for those young kids, which is nice.”

The Rams return three runners, all seniors, with State meet experience on relays from last year in Logan Lansman, Nick Schroeder, and Chase Stoline.

The Greene County Early Bird Coed Meet on Monday, March 27 is the first outdoor meet on the Rams’ schedule. It’s set for a 4:30 p.m. start at Linduska Field.
