In an effort to assist emergency responders in getting the right location more efficiently Guthrie County Law Enforcement and Emergency Services are asking that address numbers be conspicuously placed on homes. The numbers should be not less than 2 1/2 inches in height, of a contrasting color with their background and easily visible from the street. Sheriff Marty Arganbright says easily identifiable numbers save time and potentially save lives.

“It is so frustrating to go an area in emergency situation and see 201 and 203, but no 202. We have spending time searching or knocking on doors that could be used to resolve a situation.”

Sheriff Arganbright says house numbers have become more important as emergency departments have expanded their coverage areas and crews, deputies or officers may not be familiar with the area they are responding to.
