The girls’ high school track & field season for the Greene County Rams officially begins outdoors on Monday, March 27 in Jefferson at Linduska Field for the Greene County Early Bird Co-ed Meet. Prior to that, practice continues as the squad gets ready.
Dean Lansman is the boys’ head track and field coach, as well as the Activities Director. He was asked to talk about the girls’ squad. “Coach Simpson has a good group back. They’ve gone out the last few weeks to what they call a mini-boot camp. He and the other coaches have had the kids working on strength and core development, and a few other things. I know the girls returning are excited to get the season going, and he’s got a good young group to join them. So, it should be a pretty exciting Spring on the oval.”
Among the returning girls is 2016 Drake Relays champion and 2016 Class 3A State champion high jumper Megan Durbin. Senior sprinter Olivia Hansen, and others with State meet experience also return.
