The West Central Valley girls basketball team officially ended their 2016-17 campaign Sunday night when they held their annual awards night banquet.
The Lady Wildcats went 9-14 on the season inside a tough West Central Activities Conference. They were silently a strong team who ended up retaining the lead for most rebounds inside the conference after all conference teams had ended their seasons.
The Lady Wildcats were dangerous in multiple facets ranking second in the conference in steals (235), assists (269), and blocks (75).
Sunday night head coach Drew Stonewall and his coaching staff honored the Lady Wildcats and their solid season and in the process 10 individuals became letter winners on the night. West Central Valley’s 2nd team all conference selection and rebounding leader Kristin Culp took home another letter while fellow all conference selections Jennifer Dudley, Sadie McFarland, and leading scorer Grace Dupuy also became letter winners.
The remaining six letter winners for West Central Valley included sophomore Joelle Grubbs who led the team from beyond the arc with 25 made three point baskets. Taylor Beane came away a letter winner as well posting up 2.4 points per game while one of the better free throw shooters on the team notching 62.8% from the charity stripe. The remaining four letter winners included juniors Bailey Burris, Kennedy Lose, and Bailey McLaughlin along with senior Emily Franklin.
