The Election Integrity Act remains alive in the state legislature this session.
District 19 Representative Ralph Watts says the plan is to provide each precinct with an E Poll Book, which essentially is a computer database.
“When someone comes in to vote they can use their driver’s license, they can use an identification that the (Department of Transportation) would give them if they wanted to ask for it, or in addition, each registered voter will be sent a voter ID tag that has information on it that the scanner will pick up. So virtually anyone that wants to vote can vote and it will verify that they are in fact in the system and they’re eligible to vote.”
Watts says it should be a quick system, similar to what it’s like checking out at a grocery store. He feels it’s a good system and one he plans to support.
We’ll hear more from Representative Watts on today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
