The woman who struck a motorcycle and killed a West Des Moines police officer last year has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Thirty-eight year-old Jeanette Keifer of Stuart pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to yield on a left turn.  Her vehicle collided with a motorcycle driven by 47 year-old Sergeant Shawn Miller on August 3rd.  Miller died on scene.

All but five days of Keifer’s jail sentence were suspended.  She will also be on probation for one year, lose her license for 180 days and pay $1,100 in fines and court costs.
