The Greene County Supervisors on Tuesday approved the tentative agreement with the Sheriff’s office union, Iowa Council 61.
Some of the changes from the original contract that expires at the end of June include no specific time periods that dispatchers work for their eight hour shifts, a 2.5 percent increase in wages for each of the next two years, no longer allowed to take time off without pay for union-related activities and paid leave, vacation and holidays will not be counted as working time in determining overtime pay.
Another change is that the Sheriff determines hire rates based on experience and qualifications. The rate will not exceed three percent plus or minus of the lowest certified employee.
The agreement is effective July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019.
