It was officially postseason action for Iowa high school basketball teams last night, and for the ACGC Chargers it meant a trip to South Central Calhoun high school.

What were high hopes for the Chargers in their effort to advance in the postseason, was thwarted by South Central Calhoun as the Chargers would falter 57-43.

It was certainly an inauspicious start for the Chargers as they were quickly down 15-8 at the end of the first quarter and despite a 15 point second quarter, South Central Calhoun would match that and more with 22 second quarter points, putting ACGC down at the half 37-23. The Chargers actually posted up more attempts from beyond the arc with 12 than attempts within field goal range with just 6 through the first half.

The second half started off quite strongly for the Chargers who bursted out of the locker room to go on a 12-7 run in the third quarter to bring the deficit to under 10 points. Despite the third quarter surge by ACGC, South Central Calhoun would flip the script in the final frame outscoring the Chargers 13-8 to seal the deal and the win.

The Chargers had two players in double figures on the night as both junior Caden Wardyn and freshman Bryce Littler put up 12 points a piece. That would unfortunately be the vast amount of scoring balance for the Chargers as they next pair up on the scoring list was Colton Sargent and Quynton Younker posting up just 5 points a piece. The Chargers now officially end their 2016-17 inaugural campaign with an overall record of 3-20 and a conference mark of 3-15.
