It was the final regular season conference twin bill for the ACGC boys and girls basketball teams last night as they took to the road inside Woodward-Granger high school.

The Lady Chargers played tough but just couldn’t snatch a lead the entire game falling 44-31 while the Charger boys had severely slow starts to both first and second halves falling 58-35.

The girls contest witness an even battle which would start off strong with Woodward-Granger taking a slight lead 13-11 into the second quarter. The deficit for the Lady Chargers would increase just one more point as they headed into the halftime break down 22-19. Defense was the name of the game to start off the second half with a total of nine points scored between the two squads although ACGC could not snag a lead still down at the end of three quarters 27-23. The Lady Chargers would end up searching for a lead the entire night and come up empty as their fourth quarter run was outscored by Woodward-Granger 14-10 in the final frame as ACGC would take the loss. Morgan Meacham led the way with 8 points on the night.

That marks the official end to the first regular season for the ACGC Lady Chargers who will end with a record of 4-17 overall and a final conference mark of 3-13. The Lady Chargers will now make their official postseason debut this Saturday when they travel to Corning and square off against Southwest Valley high school. That game is set to commence with first tip at 7:00 pm.

In the boys contest last night, it was a hills and valleys game for the Charger boys got off to a sluggish start posting up just two first quarter points but managed to storm back in the second with a 15 point performance yet still down at the half 28-17. Much of what went wrong for ACGC in the first half came around to start the second half with the Chargers being outscored 16-5 in the third quarter. The Chargers would put a surge into the fourth quarter earning 13 in the final frame but unfortunately Woodward-Granger matched that plus a point as ACGC would end up falling. Woodward-Granger senior Brodie Harrison gave ACGC fits all night posting up a 2o point performance to lead both teams.  The loss now drops the Chargers to 3-18 overall and 3-15 in conference play.

The next game up to end the regular season for the Charger boys was originally scheduled for this Thursday at home against Coon Rapids-Bayard and while it still will be played, it has been pushed back one day with the same start time of 7:30 pm inside ACGC high school.
