Both Panorama Panther girls and boys basketball teams were back in action for the first time this week last night as they would start their first of three straight road games.

Both Panther squads were facing off on the road in Earlham and came away with a 1-1 split on the night. The Lady Panthers would continue their dominance over the conference, handing Earlham their 6th straight loss in a 74-40 win while the Panther boys squad had rough second and fourth quarters ending in a 62-32 defeat.

In the girls contest, the Lady Panthers opened up the game on a 19-11 first quarter run which they ended up increasing to a 21 point halftime lead heading into the intermission. Solid offensive play gave Earlham 19 second half points, but Panorama would not miss a beat on their offensive end scoring 19 points alone in the third quarter. They would then pad on a 13-9 fourth quarter to come away with the 74-40 victory.

In the boys contest, the Panther boys squad traded one set of problems in the first half for another set of problems in the second half. The big negative on Panorama in the first half was the amount of scoring Earlham posted up against Panorama notching 43 first half points compared to Panorama’s 12. The second half would show a better offensive half outscoring Earlham 12-8 in the third quarter but an 11-8 run for Earlham  in the fourth dashed any hopes of a Panther comeback as they would falter 62-32

With the win for the Lady Panthers the watch their overall record climb to 13-1 now with a conference mark of 9-1. The Panther boys will unfortunately watch their overall record drop to 5-8 and their conference record slide to 5-6. The next game on the docket for the Panthers will be another road contest as they take to round two against ACGC on Friday with girls game set to tip things off at 6:00 pm followed by the boys game at 7:30 pm.
