The Greene County boys’ basketball team had it’s most balanced scoring night of the season when five players reached double figures in points during Tuesday night’s 70-49 victory in Jefferson over Heart of Iowa Activities Conference rival North Polk (Alleman). Senior Trey Tucker led all scorers with 18 points while senior Thomas Jacobsen, junior Wade Adcock, and sophomores Trey Hinote and Lance Hughes all scored 11 points. Senior Calvin Skalla had six points and senior Jon Strabley two to round out the scoring. The game was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Coach Chris Nelson’s team improved to 7-2 in the HOIAC and 8-4 overall in completing the two-game season series sweep of the Comets, one of the few times that’s happened over the years. NP fell to 1-7 in the league and 2-10 overall. Sophomore Caleb Lomica had 13 points to lead the visitors.

The Rams made 10 of 14 shots in the first quarter, then went one for 14 in the second. For the game, the Rams were 24 of 55 overall and six of 18 on three-pointers. Greene County went 16 of 29 from the foul line and turned the ball over 17 times.

NP was 18 of 52 from the floor and nine of 17 shooting free throws. The Comets made four of 15 shots from three-point range, and they turned the ball over 25 times.
