The healthcare marketplace open enrollment period started November 1st and in the first month, more than 12,000 Iowans signed up for coverage.
In order for patients to ensure they’re covered on January 1st, they need to enroll by December 15th. If you’ve never used the marketplace before, it can be confusing. To help, Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa is hosting two more enrollment events in Perry this month. Trained navigators will meet one-on-one with customers to help them find the best coverage option for their families.
VNS of Iowa Navigator Director Karen Sullivan says there are things you can do to help make the process quicker and easier for all involved.
“It is best if you can call ahead and make an appointment because during the open enrollment period we tend to get very busy and walk ins have to wait quite some time. When you come to the appointment it’s important to bring information to speed up the process. So we need to know birthdates and social security numbers for those people who are applying for coverage, as well as any information about employer coverage that you might receive and then bring your paystubs or income tax returns.”
The Perry enrollment events take place December 15th and 29th at the Dallas County Hospital from 9am until 4pm. To make an appointment, call 288-1516.
