Playing without two starters the Greene County High School girls’ basketball team played some of their best ball of the season early on against Roland-Story (Story City) in Jefferson on Tuesday night on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. In the end, eight made three-point goals for R-S and none for the Rams spelled a fifth straight Greene County defeat without a win. The final was 61-33 after R-S lead just 13-12 after one quarter and 26-19 at the half. Jenna Clark had 17 points and Kyle Tjernagel came off the bench to score 15 as the Norsemen improved to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the league. The Rams fell to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Ram senior Kenna Marquardt kept her team in the game early with 15 points, all in the first three quarters. R-S had a 17-4 advantage in the final stanza. Greene County made 15 of 36 shots from the floor and three of six from the foul line. The Rams turned the ball over 30 times.

R-S had just 12 turnovers and made eight of 18 three-point shots and went 20 of 50 overall. They were 13 of 19 from the charity stripe.

Next up for the Rams is a trip to Gowrie tomorrow night for a non-conference girl/boy doubleheader vs. Southeast Valley on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Onica Delp missed the R-S game due to illness and Laurin Lyons missed a second straight game due to concussion protocol. Coach Dean Lyons hopes to have both back for Thursday night, but time will tell.
