Dallas Center Grimes came away with a varsity sweep Tuesday night inside the Perry Sports Pavilion with the Fillies dominating the Jayettes 55-29 and the Mustangs handling Perry by a score of 56-48.

The Jayettes were handed their season’s first loss thanks in large part to a tight man to man defense and a variety of zone and man full court pressing.  The constant grind seemed to wear a thin Perry team out as the Fillies broke open a 9-9 tie at the end of the first period and went on a 12-3 run early in the second quarter to build a 26-12 halftime advantage.  The Filly defense along with some sloppy ball handling led to 25 Perry turnovers.  DCG never let Perry get closer than 12 in the second half and expanded it in the 4th quarter against a tired Perry team.  Jenna Borchers led the Filly attack with 17 points while Mallory Vroegh added 14 off the bench.  Grace Marburger paced Perry with 8 points while Johanna Diw added 6.  DCG improves to 2-2 while Perry falls to 4-1.

In the boys game, DCG closed out the final 2 minutes on a 10-0 run to rally and beat Perry 56-48.  The game featured 8 lead changes in the second half after Perry erased an early 9 point deficit.  The Bluejay offense could not get the shots to go in the closing minutes while DCG capitalized on the opportunities.  Justin Prutzman provided the unexpected spark for the Mustangs hitting 12 points above his season average including his first 2 three pointers of the year.  DCG was solid at the free throw line finishing 16-18 while Perry struggled to a 7-16 mark.  Janier Puente provided the offense for Perry finishing with a double double including 21 points and 13 rebounds.  Kyle Nevitt and Rashon Ivory each added 9 points and Drew Levan chipped in 6 points.  Perry is now 0-2 on the season.

Both Perry teams will travel to Carlisle Friday night.
