Last night the ACGC girls basketball team was engaged in a Guthrie County showdown with the West Central Valley Lady Wildcats in Guthrie Center.
The Lady Chargers, who came into last night’s contest averaging just over 6 points through three first quarters came out fast and furious against West Central Valley posting up 18 first quarter points last night. The first quarter ended with the Lady Chargers up 18-11 but would turn into a stalemate for the next two quarters as both Charger and Wildcat teams posted up 8 points in the second quarter and 17 points in the third quarter.
ACGC kept that 7 point lead heading into the fourth quarter where the tides started to turn slightly in favor of West Central Valley as the Lady Wildcats would post up 18 fourth quarter points. Fortunately for the Lady Chargers time would be on their side as the lead for ACGC would stand tall ending with a 5 point lead and the win 56-54.
The strong charge for ACGC offensively was led by junior Morgan Meacham shooting 64% from the floor ending the night with 16 total points. She was followed by senior Leigan Laughery who had the best all around game draining 6 of 10 two point buckets while going 3 of 4 from beyond the arch for 15 points while also adding two rebounds to the mix.
With the win the Chargers now improve their record to 2-2. The Lady Chargers will have one day off before they are back on the competitive hardwood tomorrow for a non conference match up on the road against Glidden-Ralsten beginning at 6:00 pm.
