Greene County hosts Roland-Story tonight in boys’ high school basketball in the middle school gym in Jefferson in the second half of a girl/boy doubleheader from the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys’ contest starting somewhere around 7:30 p.m.
The Norsemen are 2-1 overall and 1-1 in HOIAC action while the Rams are 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in league play. This is the first conference game at home for Coach Chris Nelson’s team. R-S has taken 90 shots from three-point range, an average of 30 per contest. They’ve made 27 for an average of nine per contest. The Norsemen don’t possess the size and bulk of recent seasons, but that may not matter if the long range shots fall.
The Rams aren’t bashful about shooting three-pointers either as they’ve taken 52 and made 24, so three fewer makes than the Norsemen on 38 fewer attempts. The Rams are shooting over 56 percent from the field in their first three games, far better than 35.9% for R-S.
