The Greene County High School girls’ basketball team is 0-4 overall and 0-3 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play heading into tonight’s conference action with Roland-Story (Story City). The team will be playing a second straight game without leading scorer Laurin Lyons due to concussion protocol after she hit her head on the floor late in the game at Baxter vs. CMB on Nov. 29.
Without Lyons the Rams lost on Friday night in Alleman to North Polk by a 58-12 score. They were averaging 29 points per game with her. While 29 is not a big total, Lyons averaged nine points, but the Rams were 17 points lower than their average vs. the Comets. Coach Dean Lyons will be looking for someone else to pick up the scoring slack vs. the Norsemen (2-1, 1-1) when they square off tonight on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at six o’clock and the boys to follow.
