The Boone Toreadors opened the 2016-17 high school boys’ swimming season on Saturday with their Toreador Relays. Greene County Students Lucas Ausberger and Mason Osborne swim for Boone under an athletic sharing agreement. Boone was third in the six team event with 38 points. Ft. Dodge had 65 with Atlantic at 43. Carroll had 29 points with Marshalltown at 28, and Southeast Polk (Runnels) 21.

Coach Chris Mann said he was very pleased with Saturday’s effort. “These guys had a great showing at our first meet of the year. Everyone got to swim in our home invite, which is a bonus. A lot of guys had great swims and I look forward to where we go next.”

Ausberger swam on the second place 8 x 50 relay and was also on the fifth place 8 x 100 relay. Osborne was half of the fifth place 2 x 100 butterfly relay.
