Thanksgiving dinner looks to cost Iowans a little less this year.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Thanksgiving Dinner Price Survey, the holiday meal will cost a family of 10 around $5 per serving.  The feast’s total price is down to $49.87 compared to last year’s cost of $50.11.

Dave Miller, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Director of Research and Commodity Services, says prices for turkey spiked last year due to the Avian Flu virus and that’s not the case this year.  Additionally, he says ham is also quite a bargain this time of year due to a robust inventory nationwide.

The survey’s shopping list includes turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberries, a relish tray of celery and carrots, pumpkin pie with whipped cream and beverages.
