Last week’s general election results were made official Tuesday after being canvassed by the Dallas County Board of Supervisors.
According to the Auditor’s office, voter turnout was around 67 percent of all registered voters in the county. This is down slightly from the last presidential election in 2012.
Deputy Auditor Kim Owen says around 20,000 absentee ballots were requested and roughly 18,400 of them were returned.
Auditor elect Julia Helm says they also had a record number of precinct officials working this year with 240, not including those who helped process absentee requests.
Owen says 43 provisional ballots were confirmed and counted, while 42 were rejected. However, she says there was no sign of intentional voter fraud.
