Jefferson Police Department has applied for arrest warrants for a Denison man.
Police Chief Mark Clouse says they’ve applied for arrest warrants for 30 year-old Carl Allen Janssen, charging him with a Class B Felony for ongoing criminal conduct and four Class D Felonies for forgery.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on October 25th. Clouse says they received a phone call from the area supervisor of the Jefferson Casey’s General Store on 508 North Elm Street about Janssen passing checks from his deceased father’s bank account. Janssen had passed four checks, two at the Jefferson Casey’s location and two at 900 Locust Street in Scranton on July 3rd.
Janssen wrote one check for $100 in scratch off lottery tickets at the Jefferson store at 12:29pm. The second check was for the Scranton location and was also for $100 in scratch off tickets at 3:23pm. Janssen then went back to the Jefferson location and spent another $100 in scratch off tickets at 5:41pm. The final check was back in Scranton for $151.39 for more scratch off tickets at 8:36pm.
Clouse notes that his department is working with several other law enforcement agencies in surrounding counties who are investigating the same situation. Janssen didn’t have permission to spend money from his deceased father’s United Bank of Iowa in Glidden account.
Clouse adds that once Janssen is arrested, he will be booked into the Greene County jail and transported to a neighboring county that he also allegedly passing the checks.
