The names of the victims and the suspect in double homicide investigation were released by Perry Police Department Monday.
In a press conference, Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn released the names of the two individuals who were murdered and the suspect’s name in connection with the incident.
At 3pm on Sunday, the Morrison Illinois Police Department arrested the suspect, 24 year-old Carlos Marlo Hernandez-Ventura on a warrant that they had issued. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
Authorities received a call on Saturday around 8pm about a possible death at 802 6th Street in Perry. Three victims were located inside the home. Thirty-four year-old Lourdes Flor De Leak and her daughter 14 year-old Melany Elizabeth Barraza, both of Perry, did not survive and a third victim, a 78 year-old male was transported to Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines via air ambulance where he is in critical condition. Chief Vaughn says all three victims suffered multiple lacerations and blunt force traumas.

Chief Vaughn adds that they believe Hernandez-Ventura and De Leak were boyfriend-girlfriend. The autopsies were done today and Vaughn says they don’t yet know the motive and what weapon was used in the incident.
The suspect is being held in the Whiteside County Jail and will be extradited back to Dallas County. He was arrested without incident.
Counselors will be on-hand at the Perry schools for consultation.
The last time a homicide happened in Perry was in 1999.
