We continue our state election coverage today as we introduce the Democrat challenger for Iowa House District 47 Deb Duncan.
She has lived in Boone for 40 years. She is married with four children and five grandchildren. She worked for Iowa State University for 29 years and is an active member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union and for the last 23 years as their contract negotiator. She has also served on the executive board for Council 61 for the last 22 years. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why she is running for the Iowa House.
“I’m running for the state House because I feel that the people’s voices are not being heard. I don’t see a lot of communication between the legislators and the people they represent. I feel that that needs to happen, I don’t know how you vote for your constituency if you don’t talk to them and find out what their issues are.”
She also believes that mental health is a major issue for Iowa and she wants to fight for those individuals to get the help they need.
Duncan is running against Republican incumbent Chip Baltimore for House District 47.
