Guthrie County Landfill recently had a new weight scale installed.
County Sanitarian Stephen Patterson says the project started the last week of September and took four weeks to complete. Weather and wet ground delayed the project, but it is now operational. Scale, Sales and Service of Omaha installed the Rice Lake scale for just over $105,000.
Patterson points out the reason why the landfill needed a new scale is because state officials said their previous 40-foot scale wasn’t accurately weighing longer semi-trucks. The new scale is 80-feet in length.
Patterson adds that the stop and go traffic lights are expected to be installed soon.
