Matt Wetrich is one of the candidates running for the vacant Jefferson City Council Ward Two seat.
He is a Carroll County Conservation Naturalist and is married with six kids. Wetrich ran last year for the same seat against Lisa Jaskey and lost by 15 votes. Jaskey has since vacated the seat, due to moving to another state, and so Wetrich is running again.
“So I gained a lot of momentum and received a lot of support from folks from all demographics really. One of the biggest reasons I’m running is because my demographic is not represented at all that being that of a young family. So young families play a crucial role in the success of a town, especially a small town and the livelihood of it.”
He also sees housing, collaborating with other entities to improve the look and feel of the downtown district and the addition of an animal control person as other issues the City is currently facing.
Wetrich is running against Dan Benitz and Kirk Hammer to fill the vacancy on the City Council for Ward Two in Jefferson.
