What was set to be quite the busy day for ADM athletics has now been trimmed down from two events to one. The ADM cross country meet set to take place at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club has been cancelled due to impending inclement weather. With the cancellation the next meet for both Tiger teams will be the all important conference meet next Monday, October 10th beginning at 4:30 pm.
With that cancellation that means the ADM volleyball team will commence and conclude the day in their quest for their 17th win of the season taking part in an old Raccoon River Conference rivalry. The Lady Tigers will take the short road trip to square off against the Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies at DC-G Meadows gym.
It’s an old rivalry that still holds strong to this day; a match up circled on the calendars of players, fans, and coaches alike. Each year it’s more than just a chance for these two teams to improve their records, but to come together for an even bigger cause. Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with ADM head volleyball coach Mary Beth Scott on the meaning behind the game and why it’s more than just another match.
” We like playing DC-G, the girls still know each other and it’s our dig pink night and I really appreciate the fact that we’ve still been able to keep that tradition going and it’s nice to see two schools unite for a single cause. It’s positive and a win-win for everybody and it’s going to be a very good night of competitive volleyball and ultimately that’s what our girls enjoy so we look forward to the rivalry,” stated coach Scott.
The Lady Tigers kick off their match up with the Fillies from Meadows gym beginning at 7:00 tonight.
