It may be hard to imagine but Sam McCartney, ADM’s 2016 high flying, gun slinging quarterback is just one year removed from being the guy a gun slinging quarterback would throw to.

Last season McCartney tallied a solid year catching passes hauling in 18 receptions for 229 yards and one touchdown which was second overall on the team. While Sam may have been a quarterback for most of his time in football, last season’s stint at wide receiver showed him a different side of the offense and a lot of insight that he told Raccoon Valley Radio has helped him a lot this season as quarterback for the Tigers.

“It helps definitely a lot because I know what the receivers are seeing from their position because I’ve played it to. I know where I need to throw stuff and stuff like that,” explained McCartney.

McCartney has certainly found his home once again under center while continuing the recent tradition of success being the man under center for the Tigers. Through six weeks of play so far the senior has thrown for 1,247 yards and 7 touchdowns while giving up just 2 interceptions. McCartney has also taken a lot from his receiver days and applied it to the ground game as well as he not only leads the team through the air but on the ground as well totaling 92 rushing attempts for 221 total yards and 8 touchdowns.

Definately a versitile athlete finding his home back in the quarterback position. Sam and the rest of the Tiger football team pick things back up tomorrow looking for the second district win in a row as they take on the Atlantic Trojans. You can catch that game on K107.9 with pregame coverage kicking things off at 7:00 followed by game kickoff at 7:30.
