Heads up for motorists traveling on Highway 30, there may be delays in Greene County.
Iowa Department of Transportation Construction Technician Supervisor Dennis Ward says motorists should expect temporary delays as crews work on a microsurfacing project. The project includes installing a quarter-inch granite red rock with a sealant material over the existing concrete road. The project stretches from Grand Junction east to Boone.
A pilot car and flaggers are staged at designated locations along the two-lane portion of the highway to help guide motorists through the project safely. Once work starts on the four-lane portion by Ogden, only one lane will be closed at a time on the west and eastbound lanes. Ward reminds motorists to slow down and follow the pilot car while the project is ongoing.
The contractor, Asphalt Services Technology Corporation of St. Cloud, Minnesota started work on Tuesday and the project is expected to take about ten days to complete.
