The Dallas County Sheriff’s office took advantage of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau’s special Traffic Enforcement Program over the past year.
Between October 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016 Sergeant Ryan Bowers says they received funding for deputies to work overtime to enforce traffic laws and make the County a safer place to travel.
During the over 300 hours of overtime, deputies made 33 operating while intoxicated arrests, tested 12 others for drinking and driving, issued 341 speeding tickets and 485 warnings for speeding, along with 304 other citations and 541 warnings for other traffic violations.
Bowers also mentioned that Dallas County continues to have a high seatbelt wearing rate of 97 percent, according to seatbelt surveys.
