The annual Leon Fox Cross-Country Invitational is today at the Perry Country Club course. The event is named after the late coach of Perry’s cross-country and wrestling programs and will feature middle school and high school races for girls and boys. Starting time is 4:30 p.m. with middle school and high school to follow. There are 14 cross-country programs scheduled to take part in two different high school classes.

Greene County is among the teams in the field. Coach Kelly Simpson is hoping to have a healthy girls’ squad after number one runner Olivia Hansen was ill last week at the Roland-Story meet in Story City and did not finish the race. Freshman Bailey Cunningham led the way for the Rams at R-S with a sixth place finish, her highest as a varsity runner.
