After the long wait, both the ADM cross country teams will be back in action today as they take the short drive to Perry to partake in the 14 team field of the Leon Fox Invitational.
The invitational will commence at 5:00 and will be a good conference test for both Tiger squads as there will be five other Raccoon River Conference teams within the 14 team field. Both ADM teams have made great strides as of late both with one of their best performances in their last meet at home. Despite the improvements, both squads are still in the hunt for their finalized late season line ups and while both squads have been weilding similar line ups the past few meets, there will be some new faces to the varsity line ups.
Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with head coach David Zwank on the new faces that will see varsity action starting at 5:00 today.
“We’re going to do a little shake up, give a couple boys a chance to show what they can do on the varsity side. They’ve proven themselves over the past couple of weeks. They are Owen Meier who’s a first year runner and Micah Moyer. Those two have been pretty consistent and we don’t usually make those changes right away-they’ve all done pretty well but it’s been pretty consistent efforts from Owen and Micah to earn those spots,” explained coach Zwank.
Coach Zwank also stated that the change is in conjunction with the long term goal putting the best runners on the line when the end of the season comes around.
“As we do get towards the end of the season we want to make sure that we are putting the best team on the line when it comes to conference and state qualifying. Somewhat giving these guys and eye opener for hey here’s what it’ll be like for the new guys but also if you want to stay on that line up we need that best effort every single time,” stated coach Zwank.
ADM and the rest of the 14 team field will commence with the Leon Fox Invitational starting at 5:00 from the Perry Golf & Country Club
